Client Goal 
Following an acquisition, the client needed to migrate their entire Microsoft 365 environment to Google Workspace, aligning with the parent company’s collaboration and productivity ecosystem. The objective was to preserve all data, maintain business continuity, and ensure a smooth transition for end users. 

Challenges Faced 

  • Migrating multiple Microsoft 365 workloads including Exchange, SharePoint, Teams, OneDrive, Planner, and To-Do List. 
  • Ensuring proper mapping of collaboration tools to Google Workspace equivalents (e.g., SharePoint/Teams to Shared Drives). 
  • Transitioning Planner-heavy workflows into an alternative platform compatible with the parent company (Trello). 
  • Managing domain configuration, user access, and data integrity for approximately 100 users. 
  • Ensuring post-migration adoption and training for a seamless user experience.

     

Our Approach / Contribution 
Star Knowledge conducted a thorough evaluation of all Microsoft 365 data objects, identifying dependencies, volumes, and potential migration challenges. A structured migration plan was created using BitTitan to ensure minimal disruption. Exchange mailboxes, SharePoint sites, Teams content, and OneDrive data were migrated to Google Workspace Shared Drives and Gmail accounts. Planner data was mapped and migrated to Trello to match the parent company’s workflow requirements. Post-migration, comprehensive adoption training and support were provided to assist users in transitioning from Microsoft 365 to Google Workspace efficiently.
