The client aimed to modernize their email and device management infrastructure by migrating from on-premises Exchange servers to Microsoft 365. Their objectives included improving security, enabling remote management of corporate devices, and transitioning to a cloud-first environment without disrupting daily business operations.
Challenges Faced
- Legacy on-premises Exchange environment with limited remote management capabilities.
- Need to maintain business continuity during migration.
- Ensuring secure directory synchronization and user account integrity.
- Rolling out cloud-based device management and security features like MFA without disrupting end users.
Our Approach / Contribution
Star Knowledge established secure VPN connections to the on-premises Exchange environment and configured migration endpoints alongside Azure AD Connect for seamless directory synchronization. All user mailboxes were migrated to Microsoft 365 in a phased approach to minimize disruption. Following the migration, Intune-based device management was implemented to enroll all corporate devices, and Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) was rolled out through a guided user adoption campaign. Comprehensive testing ensured zero impact on daily operations.
