The Need

The client was a startup based on out Chicago. Having grown in south west Chicago, the client saw several community challenges specifically with poor economic conditions. However, saw an opportunity to nurture existing talent allowing to bring the different services, products, food and bakes to the entire city of Chicago, thus trying to change the outset of the community and provide a channel through which business communities would thrive. The solution needed to support several sellers and buyers listing and buying products and services from the platform with the client managing the shipping while charging a service fee for deliveries and each transaction.

The Challenge

The client was looking for a scalable solution that would be able to sustain the growth organically of resellers and buyers initially from the city of Chicago and then scaling up the business model to have an outreach to several cities across the United States fostering an ecosystem of digital transformation.

The solution needed several customizations to support the marketplace including a discount based/ e-Wallet system to manage credits. The solution required building a custom template that was localized to the location. The client also needed to showcase relevant searches not just by product or search query but also with the current location of the user to ensure relevant search results.

The Solution

Star Knowledge proposed to build a standard e-Commerce setup on NOPCommerce to enable a seller and buyer marketplace with commission-based transactions. The solution also required integration with Braintree integration for payments for merchant and user tracking. Additionally, the customer managed the supplies and logistics including same day delivery and was integrated with a customer delivery management system used by the customer for his delivery business.
